When we think about these persons, our focus turns to those that golf has traditionally left behind – persons with lower socio-economic status, youth suffering through tough family circumstances, military veterans seeking to conquer post-service challenges, and minority populations.

As a community, golfers have been making great strides towards inviting these new players to enjoy the game we love. Original Golfers Co. seeks to take a leadership role in centralizing these efforts across our great nation.

A Veteran that Found His Way on the Golf Course

Original Golfers Founder, Armond Herndon, found his love for golf near the end of his 11 year tenure with the United States military. Armond was logistics and a civil engineer, with service spanning both the US Army and Air Force.  Facing tough situations at home and abroad, Armond discovered the importance of mental balance, planning, and resilience. Golf became a getaway  and a mechanism for overcoming PTSD.

Armond started the Original Golfers community because he believes that all people no matter what walk of life should enjoy the game. OG aims to reach people who would otherwise have little awareness or access to the sport due to unavailability of education and resources. Moreover, OG seeks to further leverage golf as an outlet for fellow veterans, as a way to escape tough days, and to be a substantial influence on the next wave of minority golfers. Our leadership and customers are united in bringing awareness, training equipment, and mentors to underprivileged youth while educating those youth on the game of golf.

The pinnacle experience for our Young OG participants will be qualifying for the Young OG Golf Tournament. Their journey to this unique experience will be an incentive for milestone achievement and pursuit of excellence in the game of golf.

Status: We are currently seeking primary underwriters, designing media kits, and exploring venue options. Tentative timing for the inaugural tournament is September 2024.

Beyond the currently active Club OG exclusive offers membership, Original Golfers is developing a premium membership offering. Tiered benefit levels will include quarterly or monthly item shipments, exclusive or discounted access to premium experiences (e.g., airport lounges, golf events and venues) and savings at affiliate retailers (laptops, apparel, office supplies) and other benefits as new partnerships are made.

Original Golfers is working to enable the success on the golf course and beyond. This means supporting the education of program participants on one of the most critical aspects of life success practiced by traditional golf enthusiasts – financial literacy.

Status: We are currently seeking a bank and financial partners to provide curriculum and participate in the administration of financial education of youth, active duty and veteran military personnel, and minority communities.

Original Golfers aims to return service to veterans by supporting programs that advocate for all who have worn our nation’s uniform and engaging veterans and active duty personnel in our golf experiences. Programs of interest are military to civilian transitions, veterans golf outings, and veteran entrepreneurship.

Status: After out mentorship is underway, we will be seeking veteran outreach organizations with which we can partner and engage veterans in golf activities.
